Second place
For the first time in over a decade, Ferrari fought for a Formula 1 World Championship title—the Constructors’ Championship—until the final race of the season. However, the gap to McLaren was too wide, and the Italian team had to settle for second place, along with third place in the Drivers’ Championship with Charles Leclerc.
Within Ferrari, the focus remains on the positives. Rather than dwelling on the missed opportunities of 2024, the team looks ahead with confidence to next year. In an interview with Autosprint given to journalist Alessandro Gargantini, team principal Frederic Vasseur summarized the just-concluded championship: “It was a good season when I think about all the key metrics. Wins increased from one to five. Compared to where we stood 12 months ago, we’ve scored nearly 50% more points. We’re moving in the right direction. We’ve improved in performance, reliability, and efficiency. The main performance indicators reflect this. However, we must always aim for more, strive for better, and grow in areas where we’ve shown weaknesses. Overall, though, the picture this year is certainly positive.” – the French manager pointed out.
Recovering from challenges
It’s no secret that Ferrari went through a particularly challenging period in the summer, with only one podium finish between Canada and Hungary. Yet Frederic Vasseur is especially proud of the team’s reaction, as he explained in colorful terms: “What makes me particularly proud is how we responded after the difficulties during the summer months. We were in deep sh**, but we worked well together and pulled ourselves out with our own efforts, working effectively as a group. This reaction fills me with great pride.” – the French manager concluded.
