Fresh off his victory in Monaco with Ferrari, team principal Fred Vasseur is already thinking about the next race in Canada but urges calm.
After the victory in Monaco, Fred Vasseur doesn’t rest too much on his laurels and already has his mind set on Canada. Charles Leclerc triumphed at the home circuit, climbing to the highest step of the podium. Third place for teammate Carlos Sainz, who had kind words for the Monegasque.
A victory that could have been anticipated as early as Friday’s free practice: Ferrari’s #16 driver was incredibly fast, almost unreachable. Qualifying then confirmed the sensations of the day before, with Charles Leclerc on pole position.
The Championship is wide open now. Ferrari is 24 points behind Red Bull (narrowed in Monaco after Sergio Pérez’s retirement and Max Verstappen’s anonymous sixth place on the streets of Monte Carlo), while Charles Leclerc is 31 lengths behind the Dutchman ahead of the next round of the 2024 Formula 1 championship, which will take place Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
“The success in Monaco gives confidence to everyone,” Fred Vasseur stated in post-race interviews to Formula 1 microphones. Speaking about expectations for the next race, which will be in Canada, the team principal urges calm: “And it’s true that there are similarities – much higher speed and low aerodynamic load. But we are heading in the right direction.”

“We can’t think we’re done because in the next qualifying, we could easily be sixth and seventh,” he concluded before being called by his team for celebrations at the end of the Monaco Grand Prix.
