Homecoming
The Monza weekend, the most anticipated by the entire Ferrari world, especially the fans, has finally arrived. Scuderia Ferrari has chosen to celebrate what, due to the cancellation of the Imola race, remains the only Italian round of this season, with special liveries and suits. However, for the red-hearted fans who will fill the stands of the Monza Circuit, substance matters more than appearance.
After yet another disappointing season performance at Zandvoort, slightly alleviated by Carlos Sainz’s fifth-place finish, the hope is that the Temple of Speed can favor the technical characteristics of the SF-23, similar to what happened in Spa before the summer break.
Fred Vasseur’s Debut
The team principal of the Prancing Horse, Frederic Vasseur, presented the Italian race without hiding a certain emotion, as it will be his first appearance on an Italian track as the number one on the Ferrari pit wall. “We were eagerly awaiting the chance to race here at Monza, our only home race after the cancellation of the Imola Grand Prix, and finally, we are here. For the entire team, hitting the track in front of the fans is an incentive to put our hearts into everything we do,” Fred Vasseur assured, as he then continued:
“There’s a will to repay those who always support us – both when things go well and especially when they go badly – and we want to offer a great spectacle and a strong performance. For me, this is my first Italian Grand Prix in this role with the Scuderia, so the excitement is even greater.”
Recalling Spa
The French manager also drew a parallel with the Belgian weekend, hoping that the Monza weekend could end with at least one driver from the Ferrari team on the podium: “To achieve the goal we set for ourselves, we need to put aside the emotional side and focus on preparing for the best possible execution of the weekend,” warned Fred Vasseur. “From the first lap of the initial practice session to the final lap of the race.”
“We saw in Belgium that, on certain types of tracks, the SF-23 can be competitive. We need to be perfect: Charles and Carlos are two of the strongest drivers in the world, and it’s our duty to put them in a position to showcase their talent. Behind Red Bull, the values are extremely close, and every detail can make a difference. Let’s give it our all,” he concluded.
