Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris dominated the opening practice session for the Qatar Grand Prix, setting the pace ahead of sprint qualifying at the Lusail International Circuit.
Oscar Piastri led the way with a fastest lap of 1:20.924, narrowly edging out his McLaren team-mate Norris by just 0.058 seconds. Norris heads into the weekend holding a 24-point championship advantage over Piastri and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Max Verstappen, however, struggled with his RB21 throughout the 60-minute session, repeatedly complaining about the car’s performance. He ultimately ended the session sixth, 0.580 seconds off the pace set by Oscar Piastri.
