George Russell, a star of the Formula One series, was not happy with how drivers were introduced by LL Cool J before Sunday’s start of the Miami Grand Prix.
George, a British Rising Star from Kings Lynn who is 25 years old, has set his sights on the pinnacle of motorsports success: winning the Formula 1 World Championship.
In 2006, he started his career in karting, which was just the beginning. He made his debut in British Motorsport in 2009, at the young age of 16, when he won both the MSA British Cadet Championship and the British Open Championship.
In 2021, after a fantastic Qualifying, George finished second on the grid and the podium at the Belgian Grand Prix despite the rain that plagued the race.
Williams Racing moved to eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship thanks largely to George’s four additional point-scoring finishes.
The inaugural 2022 season for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team was successful. Despite challenges with the rule changes, George finished the year with eight podium finishes, including his first victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
George will compete in Formula One for the second year in a row with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team in 2023.

While Will.i.am produced a new single called “The Formula” and conducted the symphony as drivers marched out from the back towards the starting grid at Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens, Florida, LL Cool J was chosen to get the fans excited for the race. The race will be featured on several betting bookies and platforms where bettors can use an accum calculator to check their odds of winning.
Russell told reporters afterward that he could have spent the 30 minutes before the race doing more productive things.
“I guess it’s the ‘American way’ of doing things during sport,” the British driver stated on Sunday. I’m in this to compete. I’m not doing this for the attention; I’m competing. There is no other sport in which the players spend the last half-hour before going to the loo making a show for the cameras. I see the appeal of that in the entertainment industry.
According to Grand Prix Drivers Association director and driver Andrew Russell, his colleagues are “open to changes” but don’t want to see the same degree of ceremony every weekend.
On Monday, Formula One announced that drivers had voiced reservations about the events leading up to the race. A spokesperson for the organization assured the Associated Press that they would continue to hear drivers’ complaints regarding the events leading up to the races.
In the end, Russell came in at position four.
After passing his Red Bull colleague Sergio Perez late in the race, Max Verstappen took first place. On May 21, Formula One will visit Italy for the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna.
