Some believe that Charles Leclerc should begin evaluating alternative options outside of Scuderia Ferrari for the 2027 Formula 1 season. Imagining the Monegasque driver in different racing colours is objectively difficult, given how closely his image is tied to the Maranello team. Charles Leclerc has repeatedly and publicly reaffirmed his deep, unwavering affection for Ferrari, despite the fact that in seven full seasons he has yet to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the Formula 1 World Championship. The blame for this lack of success certainly does not lie with the driver himself. Since joining the team, Charles Leclerc has never had at his disposal a truly competitive car capable of securing the title, despite the promising illusion provided by the strong start to the 2022 campaign.
Furthermore, the driver sporting the number 16 appears unwilling to consider alternatives outside of Ferrari. “Others have won, but I drive for Ferrari,” he recently declared, a phrase that once again won over the hearts of the passionate Tifosi of the Prancing Horse. Because of such declarations of loyalty, it currently seems unlikely that Charles Leclerc would willingly choose to part ways with the iconic Italian outfit in the near future.
Advice for the future has arrived
Nonetheless, certain voices in the Formula 1 world have begun offering guidance about the path Leclerc should take for the years ahead. In his most recent video posted on YouTube, renowned Sky Sport F1 commentator Carlo Vanzini spoke about what the Monegasque driver should do. “Charles needs to take a step back, recharge and look to the future. He should also find some options for 2027 so that he can feel more relaxed from a career perspective. If then Ferrari is competitive, he will try to achieve his dream, which is to win wearing red,” Carlo Vanzini stated.
At present, however, the prospect of a split between Charles Leclerc and Ferrari appears highly improbable. Earlier this year, Charles Leclerc signed a multi-year contract extension that will keep him tied to Scuderia Ferrari for what could amount to the majority, if not the entirety, of his career in Formula 1. Both the driver and the loyal Ferrari fanbase are holding onto the hope that the 2026 car, which will be the first built under the new technical regulations, can deliver a level of performance capable of allowing the number 16 to fight consistently for the championship title.
