The feedback from last year was very positive. During the the three days of testing in Bahrain four drivers will be able to run simultaneously with the Helmet-cam, adding this show opportunity to the drones that will make their debut in an F1 event before their use in the Sakhir competition.
For now, the television direction can support four Helmet-cams at the same time, but the goal is to get all twenty drivers on the grid. For the moment, however, only ten out of twenty conductors can contribute to the exclusive shooting, because the Helmet Cam was designed and developed in collaboration with Bell: the Driver’s Eye is the FIA approved micro camera (8 mm in diameter). and 2.5 grams of weight) positioned at eye level on the protective padding inside the driver’s helmet.
The American company that produces helmets was the first to have agreed to introduce a micro-camera in the padding of the shell, addressing (and solving) all the safety problems that led to the development of a technology which is able to offer exclusive shots.
In short, the Bahrain tests, in addition to having to having the goal of showing us the true performance and potential of the new Formula 1 cars, will also have the task of discovering some gems of the Biggin Hill television production.
