As has often happened in recent years, the approval of the Formula 1 calendar for the following season did not make everyone happy. Or rather, there was an agreement, because the 24 races scheduled for 2023 have been put to the vote, but there is still more discontent among the teams.
The first problems arose right from the voting procedure. Although all ten teams have approved the 2023 Formula 1 calendar, according to some sources the teams would have received the final draft just three hours before the electronic voting.
“Triple header” too demanding according to F1 teams
In addition to this, Formula 1 is now also a logistical challenge. With the sport now racing on all continents, the teams are forced to perform more than 130,000 km of flights each year, without calculating any stops back at the factory between one race weekend and the next one.
What generates even more difficulties are the so-called “triple-headers”. So much loved by fans, these are three weekends in which Formula 1 races consecutively, naturally on different circuits.
The first “hat trick” of 2023 will thus start in Imola, with Formula 1 then moving to Monaco and Spain. One triple-header was also scheduled for the current season, but the discontent of the teams is increased by a second one for the next championship, which will involve the GPs in Mexico, Brazil and Las Vegas. With only the Abu Dhabi stage remaining, these three races will probably be decisive for the fate of the championship title and the fact that they are one after the other makes the top teams somewhat unhappy.

Lastly, the GT World Challenge also had to adapt its calendar to that of Formula 1. As confirmed yesterday, the dates initially scheduled for the 24H of Spa coincided with those of the Belgian Grand Prix. The organizers, despite the fact that the chosen date had been the same for the past 70 years, decoded to rescheduled the event for the GT3 cars.
