Formula 1 renews contract with Abu Dhabi until 2030. F1 renews contract with Abu Dhabi until 2030.

Formula 1 has officially confirmed that it has signed a contract extension with organisers in order to continue racing in Abu Dhabi until 2030. The Yas Marina Circuit made its debut on the Formula 1 calendar in 2009 as a twilight race – starting in the dusk, finishing in the night.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is now ready to host its fourth title decider – after 2010, 2014 and 2016, as Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton will be fighting for the title this weekend. Over the years, the racing in Abu Dhabi has been subdued which has led to significant track modifications to aid overtaking.

The changes include the removal of the Turn 5/6 chicane and the subsequent hairpin being opened up and brought forward, while Turns 11-14 have been converted into a 180 degree banked corner.

Changes have also been made to the hotel section, with the corners being opened up significantly to make it faster and more flowing.

Speaking of the announcement, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali explained: “We are delighted to confirm that we will be racing in Abu Dhabi until 2030 under this new agreement. We are hugely looking forward to the season finale this weekend when more Formula 1 history will be made. The promoter, ADMM, always creates an incredible show for the final race of every F1 season and combined with the changes made to improve the racing on the Yas Marina Circuit we are excited for many years of racing in Abu Dhabi that is ahead of us.” – he said.

Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management CEO Saif Al Noaimi added: “The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Yas Marina Circuit continue to introduce hundreds of millions of spectators and TV viewers to Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates. The signing of a new multi-year deal with the Formula One Group not only represents the strength of our relationship but reaffirms our commitment to delivering an unparalleled and world-class race weekend experience for all visitors to enjoy.” – Saif Al Noaimi concluded.
