Formula 1, Liberty Media rinuncia alla riforma dei weekend di gara. Brawn ha confermato di non avere nel mirino la radicale modifica della struttura del weekend di gara.

Era stata una delle possibili idee rivoluzionarie di Liberty Media, quella di aumentare il numero di gran premi – l’obiettivo sarebbe arrivare a 25 – riducendo al contempo a due, i giorni di attività in pista per fine settimana. Incontrate le resistenze della maggior parte dei team e degli appassionati, sembra che per il momento i nuovi proprietari del circus debbano virare su altri argomenti. Direttamente a Spa, Ross Brawn ha infatti confermato di non avere più nel mirino la radicale modifica della struttura del weekend di gara.

“Siamo giunti alla conclusione – ha spiegato il direttore sportivo della Formula 1 – che lavorare su tre giorni sia semplicemente la cosa migliore. È nell’interesse degli organizzatori e delle televisioni. E noi lo dobbiamo agli appassionati. Adesso la questione è come organizzare gli attuali weekend in maniera più intelligente”.

Riforma dei fine settimana ma non solo. Anche le modifiche al sistema di punteggio e al format delle qualifiche sembrano non essere più tra le grandi priorità di Liberty Media. “Forse – ha aggiunto Brawn – una soluzione potrebbe essere quella di assegnare dei punti ai primi 15 dell’ordine d’arrivo, ma non vogliamo cambiare troppo radicalmente le cose. Per quanto riguarda le qualifiche, infine, bisogna essere cauti perché il format attuale è di successo, oltre che molto popolare”.
