Almost 4 million spectators in 14 races
Red Bull’s dominance in the 2023 championship has certainly not affected Formula 1’s popularity among fans, which continues to grow at an impressive pace. Liberty Media has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2024, and former Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali, currently the chief executive officer of Formula 1, highlighted the excellent results recorded by the championship.
“The F1 season is experiencing phenomenal races, with seven different winners in fourteen races and increasingly smaller gaps between competitors,” said Stefano Domenicali. “Followers on social media have increased by over 30% across all F1 platforms, and in the first half of the season, we recorded 3.7 million attendees at the races, with ten sold-out events. The F1 Academy has had a great start in its first season, and along with Sprint, F2, and F3, it is bringing added value to our fans, promoters, and sponsors.” – the former Ferrari team principal explained.
Greg Maffei, Stefano Domenicali’s superior, is also pleased because F1 continues to grow in audience levels in the USA: “Formula 1 is having an incredible season, with particularly high engagement in emerging markets. Five races have already set records for live viewership in the United States,” added Greg Maffei.
