Ferrari’s technical crisis in F1 is somewhat reminiscent of the 2014 and 2020 seasons, when the team often found itself battling mid-pack. It’s truly a shame to see the Scuderia fighting for points instead of victories, with the most recent Miami GP highlighting their struggles as the fifth-strongest car on track. Not just behind McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull, but even behind Williams. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton barely managed to finish ahead of Carlos Sainz’s Williams!
So, what’s going on in Maranello? Is the SF-25 project flawed? Did Ferrari’s engineers follow the wrong path with the 2024 car? One might say yes, judging by the first six races of the 2025 F1 championship. All that remains is to wait for the next three GPs — Imola, Monaco, and Montmeló.
It’s in Spain that the future course of Ferrari’s season will become clearer. It may already be time for Maranello to focus on 2026, but it’s best to wait for the Spanish GP before drawing final conclusions.
Former Formula 1 engineer Sergio Rinland addressed Ferrari’s crisis on Pit-Talk. The Argentine engineer stated that Ferrari’s problems are not technical but organizational, due to a lack of cohesion among the engineers and technical staff.
“Ferrari’s problem is human: the team is not united, they’re not working in the same direction. The infrastructure and engine are there; if there’s a lack of downforce and quick decision-making, it means the group isn’t functioning. I’m not blaming Fred Vasseur in particular, but unity is missing.”
So what solution should Ferrari adopt if the issue is human? Change the team principal again after just two seasons? Hire top-level F1 engineers? Put a pragmatic and decisive figure — someone like Flavio Briatore — in charge of the racing department? Hard to say.
But one thing is certain: as engineer Sergio Rinland stated, Ferrari lacks internal cohesion. Perhaps it also lacks team harmony, positivity, motivation, and a willingness to step up. Tensions and discontent are taking hold within Ferrari.

Much of the good work done by Fred Vasseur over the past two years already seems undone. And that’s without mentioning two drivers like Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton who are (understandably) beginning to lose patience. A solution must be found quickly — before it’s too late. Someone in Maranello may need to step aside: guess who…
