Maurizio Arrivabene, former team principal of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team, is close to joining Juventus Football Club, as the former Italian champions are looking for a successor after the departure of CEO Fabio Paratici. Maurizio Arrivabene would be an option for that, as reported by the Italian media.
In fact, according to Italian daily newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport, he’s at the top of the Old Lady’s list. His main competitors? Giovanni Carnevali (Sassuolo), Matteo Tognozzi (Juventus youth) and Giovanni Manna (director of the under-23 team of Juventus). So there is opposition from both inside and outside Juventus. Paratici, the former CEO of Juve, left after a dramatic season at Juventus and partly because of the commotion that arose around the so-called ‘Super League’. As a result, Juventus is now looking for a new CEO.
Maurizio Arrivabene left Scuderia Ferrari in 2019. He was team principal of the red cars in Formula 1 from 24 November 2014 to 7 January 2019. However, his period there was not very successful: under his leadership, Ferrari drove mostly in the shadow of Mercedes and Red Bull, despite having drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen at their disposal. Yet in 2017 and 2018 Ferrari looked to be able to challenge Mercedes at times, but in the end the Maranello team did not succeed in achieving its goals.
Since 2012 Maurizio Arrivabene serves as member of the Board of Directors for Juventus F.C. SpA, where he was also, until 2015, member of Control and Risks Committee and Nominations and Remuneration Committee.
