Luigi Mazzola commented on Ferrari’s current situation during the Sky Race Anatomy show, also speaking about Lewis Hamilton and team principal Frédéric Vasseur.
Luigi Mazzola’s words
Here is the engineer’s reflection: “When all of this [external media noise, ed.] happens, there isn’t a calm and serene atmosphere [within the team, ed.].
“From the drivers and from everything surrounding the driver, like the engineers — in my opinion, all [this unease, ed.] stems from a lack of trust [in the project, ed.].
“They’ve now realized [at Ferrari, ed.] that there’s nothing to be done, so even when something could be done during the race, such as with a different strategy, the car simply doesn’t have the same performance as the others.
“I would like to say to Fred Vasseur — hats off to him for his position — that the pace he sees on Friday isn’t the same as on Sunday…
“Lewis Hamilton’s interview [after the Canadian Grand Prix, ed.] is shocking — you have to read it carefully. He talks about organization, about mentality. [Hamilton, ed.] has found himself in a team that needs to be rebuilt, as his father also said some time ago. Then he talks about these updates that haven’t arrived, even though we’re already at the tenth race.” – the former Ferrari team member pointed out.
“All this leaves me very puzzled, because from a team like Ferrari, you expect that all the infrastructure needed to win is already there — not that Lewis Hamilton comes in and points out everything that’s missing. This mentality should already exist within the company, and if it doesn’t, it’s worrying — very worrying. Clearly, something around him [Hamilton, ed.] doesn’t add up,” Luigi Mazzola concluded.
