Former Formula 1 driver Jyrki Juhani Jarvilehto, better known as JJ Lehto, is confident that his Finnish countryman Kimi Raikkonen will improve and manage a more positive 2017 Formula One season. With Scuderia Ferrari’s title hopes high this year, the Italian team’s management issued a warning about Kimi Raikkonen’s performance after the Chinese Grand Prix, while many rumours regarding Daniel Ricciardo or Sergio Perez as possible replacements have been highlighted during recent weeks:
“I haven’t heard anything about what his problems have been, but Kimi did not have a very easy start to the season. But the team is working really well and I know Kimi can do better. When you start having problems, it can snowball quickly but once you get the small details sorted out things can start to work well again. After all, Kimi has definitely not lost his speed. Last year he drove really well and that doesn’t suddenly disappear over one winter.” – JJ Lehto said, as reported by Finland’s Iltalehti newspaper
JJ Lehto won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, in 1995 and 2005. In 1989 Lehto tested for the Maranello side before making his Formula One debut for the Onyx team. During the 1991 and 1992 Formula One championships he raced for Scuderia Ferrari, with a best result at the 1991 San Marino Grand Prix by finished third and a worst at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he failed to qualify.
