Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz has the maturity and speed to win a World title, according to former F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari, who feels the Maranello team only needs to be able to give him with a race-winning car.

The 2021 Formula 1 season has seen Carlos Sainz rise to the occasion as a Ferrari driver, the Spaniard sliding into the role with ease. Ahead of the United States Grand Prix, the Spanish driver has scored three podiums and 116.5 points, with a small advantage in the standings ahead of his team-mate Charles Leclerc and with two more podiums to his name.

“What I want to see is that Carlos can win one day and have a car to win because I think he can,” Jaime Alguersuari said in a recent interview for Spanish newspaper Marca. “And I would love to see it.”

Last time out at the Turkish Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz made a great recovery race from P19 to finish in eighth place with many believing it was his best drive yet as a driver for the Maranello team. Former F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari believes there have been several signs this season that Carlos Sainz is coming into his own.

He have already seen super interesting things that have surprised me personally and are making me see a driver managing 20 races, a championship, in a way that I don’t see many do.
