Flavio Briatore and his view of the Championship
In a column for the Italian newspaper Il Riformista, Flavio Briatore expressed his appreciation for the podium of the Canadian Grand Prix, which featured Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton as the protagonists. He described these three drivers as the most important in Formula 1, highlighting Max Verstappen’s class as he heads towards his third title.
The Canadian Grand Prix Podium
Regarding the Canadian Grand Prix, Flavio Briatore commented: “We witnessed the usual dominance of a driver, Max Verstappen. His teammate, Checo Perez, was considerably further behind, demonstrating that it’s not enough to have a competitive car, but it’s essential for the driver to rise to the occasion. On Sunday, we had the opportunity to admire the podium with the three most prestigious champions of Formula 1, creating a podium that showcased the top three forces and drivers in the motorsport circus.” – the Italian businessman explained.
Flavio Briatore’s Hope for Ferrari
Despite Max Verstappen’s dominance, Flavio Briatore remains hopeful of seeing improvement from Ferrari. He noted that the Italian team managed to keep pace with Aston Martin and Mercedes for the first time this year. “Now we await confirmation in the upcoming races,” concluded Briatore. “We are waiting for Ferrari to continue on this promising path, while hoping that Aston Martin can reduce the gap to Red Bull. However, it seems that the World Championship is already widely dominated by an unstoppable Max Verstappen.” – concluded Flavio Briatore who worked as team principal for Renault and previously as managing director of Benetton.
