The fires in Canada over the past few weeks have raised concerns about the normal course of the Montreal weekend on June 16-18. However, a Formula 1 spokesperson has denied the presence of a real risk of canceling the GP, the eighth race of the championship.
The Canadian Grand Prix is not at risk of cancellation: this is affirmed by F1 itself, reassuring fans and professionals, through the statements of its spokesperson.
Rumors of possible issues regarding the smooth running of the Montreal race had emerged in recent days due to the fires that have been affecting the country in recent weeks.
The movement of smoke from these fires has caused significant disruptions not only in the Ottawa region but also in the United States. One of the most critical situations is in New York City, which, engulfed by the unhealthy blanket of smoke, raises concerns about the health of the population.
After some concerns about the movement of clouds over Montreal, an F1 spokesperson has denied the risk of the Canadian GP being called. The statements were released on Thursday, June 8, after meetings with local authorities.

“The event is not at risk. The information assures us that the situation in Montreal at this moment is different from other parts of Canada and the northern United States. The risk remains low, and the air quality in Montreal is good,” stated the Formula 1 representative.
Concerns have been alleviated, and in the coming days, the smoke clouds should move away from the city along the St. Lawrence River. Additionally, with the intervention of some rain, the situation should not jeopardize the Canadian round of the Formula 1 championship.
