Red Bull and McLaren appear in good form and capable of contending for the top spot, while Ferrari is desperately seeking a solution to their suboptimal balance. Both Leclerc and Sainz expressed dissatisfaction with the SF-24 in sprint format. Leclerc announced an all-in approach for qualifying. The car seen until Saturday morning did not allow Charles to push according to his intentions, leading the team to make last-minute changes. Similarly, Carlos Sainz worked with his team on the car’s balance, focusing on the performance of the soft tires and brake management.
Max Verstappen arrived as the favorite in Q1. The Dutchman, who claimed the pole in the shootout and triumphed in the sprint, is the man to beat at Red Bull’s home track in Spielberg. However, the McLarens are not far behind. Norris came to qualifying determined to make up for his Sprint mistake, while Piastri approached the pole fight with determination after his P2 in the morning. Behind the top three favorites, Ferrari worked to get back into the fight for the Top 3, or at least to challenge the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
