Hopes are increasing that this year there may be even three Italian Formula 1 events. If Monza and Mugello are already confirmed for 6 and 13 September, the possibility that the Circus can return to Imola 14 years after the last appearance are now becoming more concrete.
Today Michael Masi, FIA’s Race Director and Safety Delegate, will be at Mugello for the traditional inspection which is done before each round of the Formula 1 championship. However, the most important news reported by Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport is that tomorrow Michael Masi will be at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari (Imola) for an inspection of the track tomorrow.
In recent days, the president of the Emilia Romagna region, Stefano Bonaccini, had also given an encouraging signal, saying that he was ready to make an effort if a concrete opportunity presented itself, as already done to give Misano a second stage of the MotoGP.
As for the dates, there are currently two hypotheses: 4 October, which would be immediately after the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. Or one week later, on the 11th, in case the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim should also become part of the calendar.
