The FIA has officially confirmed the zones where it will be possible to exploit the DRS system in the Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.
After the strong victory scored by Red Bull and Max Verstappen in the last race weekend, which also took place at the Red Bull Ring but under the name Styrian Grand Prix, teams and drivers will return to battle on the always spectacular Austrian track, this year confirmed in a double appointment as in the previous season.
The FIA, for the weekend that will take place under the name Austrian Grand Prix, has chosen to activate three DRS zones, which will be positioned in the main straight of the Austrian circuit, in the straight leading from turn 1 to 3 (in between there is the half-turn of 2) and in the opposite line that leads the drivers from 3 to 4. The detection points, one for each sector, will be placed just before turns 10, 1 and 3.
The weekend program, we recall, includes two free practice sessions lasting one hour on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning. These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last chance for teams and drivers to work on the set-up in view of qualifying, scheduled for the same day later in the afternoon.
