The latest reports from leading German automobile magazine ‘Auto motor und sport’ include an update regarding the news that the FIA conducted an inspection of Scuderia Ferrari’s power unit at the end of the Mexican Grand Prix last weekend, Sebastian Vettel’s view on the Italian side’s strategy at the previous race as well as the Maranello team’s drivers’ thoughts of the design for the 2021 F1 cars:
“Rumours that the FIA had investigated the Ferrari engine for alleged illegal tricks after the Mexico GP have turned out to be false. Asking the FIA, they said: “There was no reason to investigate the Ferrari engine. Only when a protest is filed will we act.” – ‘Auto motor und sport’ reports.
Sebastian Vettel has protected the Ferrari strategists after recent criticism for the decisions in Mexico: “We decide together. I tell the engineers what I feel in the car. That’s what they consider into their decisions. I don’t think there is anything wrong with our system in general or the reason why we lost in Mexico.”
Sebastian Vettel about the 2021 car: “It is one thing what is written on paper and another thing what it feels like in reality. Any quick judgment would be unfair.”
Charles Leclerc about the 2021 car: “I actually like the car. If you let the engineers work on it, it will certainly look even more aggressive.”
