Scuderia Ferrari is preparing for the 2024 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit with a change for Carlos Sainz, who has installed new engine components. Let’s look at the details.
The Spaniard is using a new internal combustion engine (ICE), which is the fourth allowed by the FIA regulations. Additionally, Ferrari has also changed the turbocharger (TC) and installed a new MGU-H unit on the #55 car.
A new MGU-K, a new exhaust system (EX, previously used four times), and a new gearbox have also been installed.
Carlos Sainz does not risk any grid penalty for the Italian GP, as the changes fall within the limit allowed by the FIA.
Besides the Ferrari driver, Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas have also installed new components on their respective power units, but neither will face penalties.
For Carlos Sainz, this is his last Monza in red. At the press conference on the eve of the Italian Grand Prix, the Spanish driver stated that racing at Monza is “exciting, for sure, but I try to enjoy it as much as possible. Embrace this feeling and be present. A mistake I often make is to stop being present and think too much. Formula 1 is a routine with these 24 weekly races. It becomes a job.” – he pointed out.
“Before coming here, I tried to take a moment to stop. Look around and say: okay, I’m a Ferrari driver with the possibility of a podium or a win this weekend if everything goes well,” he concluded.
