The FIA has formalized the points where it will be possible to take advantage of the DRS system in the 2021 French Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.
After the many twists and turns in Baku, with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen without points and Sergio Perez on the top step of the podium, the first with the Red Bull colors, teams and drivers will return to battle in the “technical” and much criticized Le Castellet track, which returned on the calendar after the forced break last year due to Covid19.
As two years ago, the race commission has chosen to activate two DRS zones, which will be positioned in the main straight of the French circuit and in the straight leading from turns 7 to 8. The detection points, one for each sector, will be located just before Turn 14 and Turn 7.
The weekend program, we recall, includes two free sessions lasting one hour on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning. These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last chance for teams and drivers to focus on the set-up in view of qualifying, scheduled for the same day, later in the afternoon. Green light on Sunday afternoon.
