In an interview with Spiegel for AMuS, Germany’s premier F1 source, Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel talks about his relationship with Lewis Hamilton and the respect they have for each other:
“At some point it clicked. It’s not like I don’t respect the other Formula 1 drivers, but Lewis stands out. You also feel it when it’s mutual. I think it’s important for yourself to see and understand that. We are now on a level where everyone knows for themselves: I do my job well and try to do it better and better. But the other one can do it really good too.” – he explained.
The relationship with Lewis Hamilton is very special. Sebastian Vettel admits that dealing with Lewis is different from dealing with the young drivers of the next F1 generation: “Consciously not, but perhaps subconsciously. But of course all of them have earned their place in Formula 1.” – the German driver added.
“I recognise performance. If the moment of victory doesn’t belong to me, for whatever reason, then it belongs to someone else, you should respect that too. We spend too much time on complaints and struggles anyway and less time on compliments” – Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel, as reported earlier today by the leading German automobile magazine Auto motor und sport.
