Sky shines the spotlight on one of the most decisive chapters in Ferrari history with “Sognando Rosso”, the documentary that tells the story of the man who forever changed the destiny of the Prancing Horse: Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. Here is how and when it will be possible to watch the Ferrari documentary on Sky.
Directed, produced, and written by Manish Pandey, already known as the screenwriter of “Senna”, and co-directed by Christopher M. Armstrong, the project will be released from March 20 on Sky Documentaries, streaming on NOW and available on demand, with a second broadcast scheduled for March 27 on Sky Sport Arena.
A new Ferrari documentary arrives on Sky
The documentary follows the meeting between Chris Harris, well-known face of Top Gear, and Montezemolo, in a narrative that unfolds through symbolic locations rich in history and memory. It is a journey that intertwines personal life with that of Ferrari, crossing fundamental decades, from the 1970s to the 1990s. Within it are the triumphs of Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher, the direct relationship with Enzo Ferrari, and the connections with the Agnelli family.
All of this is enriched by rare archival footage and testimonies that offer a deeper and more authentic perspective on one of the most influential figures in modern motorsport. The narrative revolves around a key concept: Montezemolo did not save Ferrari just once, but twice.
In 1973, he was personally chosen by Enzo Ferrari to lead the Scuderia, guiding Niki Lauda to the world title in 1975 and laying the foundations for a return to the top. Then, in 1991, he returned during a critical moment for the company and radically transformed it, making it not only competitive on track but also a global luxury icon.
“Sognando Rosso” goes beyond motorsport. The documentary also explores Luca Cordero di Montezemolo’s impact on the world of industry and Italian culture. From his presidency of Fiat, Maserati, and Alitalia, to his role in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, and his leadership of Confindustria, the story portrays a leader capable of influencing very different sectors.
There is also a look at other key projects, such as the organization of the 1990 FIFA World Cup and the launch of high-speed rail in Italy. “I have lived my life at full speed and this film captures that spirit. It is a story of passion, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence,” Luca Cordero di Montezemolo says, highlighting the connection between his journey and Ferrari’s values.
