Ferrari’s 2025 Formula 1 season has been one of the most disappointing in the recent history of the Prancing Horse. Despite bold victory claims made over the winter following Lewis Hamilton’s arrival, the SF-25 proved to be one of the team’s least competitive cars in recent years, unable to keep pace with McLaren and Red Bull, and often underperforming even relative to internal expectations. Lewis Hamilton, who hoped to fight for the World Championship in his debut season with Ferrari, quickly had to scale back his ambitions, describing a first-year win as “unrealistic,” with frequent finishes off the podium and a car that proved difficult to set up across many tracks.
This technical and sporting debacle also had heavy repercussions in the financial markets. In October, Ferrari’s stock became the worst performer on the FTSE MIB, plummeting by 15.72%. Investors reacted negatively not only to the on-track results but also to future guidance considered overly cautious compared to expectations, and to an industrial plan that, while solid, no longer supported the winning narrative that had fueled the share’s growth in previous years. The dream of a Ferrari back at the top has therefore collapsed both on the Grand Prix standings and in the stock market.
