In a recent interview for German weekly sports magazine Sport Bild, Scuderia Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc talk about their aim for the second half of the season, as the summer break is almost over and the Belgian Grand Prix will take place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps this weekend:
Charles Leclerc:
“We want to improve as a team, making the things that went wrong in the first half of the season a lot better. For me personally, the first victory is the main goal.” – Charles said. Charles Leclerc and Ferrari will be looking for a strong start after the summer break is they look to close the gap on the impressive Mercedes, who currently have a 150 point lead on the Italian car. Charles himself is fifth in the drivers’ standings, just 24 behind his teammate Sebastian Vettel.
Sebastian Vettel:
“The first goal was to make sure the belly disappeared again, after eating so much delicious ice cream.” – Sebastian joked, when asked by German weekly sports magazine Sport Bild about his target for the second half of the season – “I have to do my job in the best possible way. I have to be critical with myself because I didn’t do the best possible job here and there. We are not where we want to be, we are the ones who have to catch up. But we work passionately on it.” – Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel added. Seb will return to Belgium this week having gone a year without a race win, with his last triumph having come in the Ardennes forest 12 months prior.
With the SF90 regarded as the fastest car on the grid in terms of top-line speed, it could play into Sebastian Vettel and team-mate Charles Leclerc’s hands as they look for a first Ferrari win of 2019.
