Scuderia Ferrari’s challenger for the 2023 Formula 1 season is already at an advanced stage of development, as recently reported by Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.
While the huge 118-point gap which Red Bull has over Scuderia Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix suggests that the Austrian team had the top car, Ferrari have a good claim to have created the fastest car this season, at least for the first part of the championship. Unfortunately, some different factor led to the Maranello team not being able to capitalize on the speed of the F1-75 car.
A few driver mistakes, alongside many reliability problems and several poor strategy decisions, have meant Scuderia Ferrari are already out of the championship battle with eight races until the end of the season, as Red Bull and Max Verstappen proved much more capable of getting the most out of each race weekend.
With less than a third of the season until the end of 2022, teams are also focusing on the next Formula 1 campaign and Ferrari will be hoping to provide a much solid competition for Red Bull in 2023. According to Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, the Maranello team’s challenger for the 2023 Formula 1 season is already in an “advanced stage”.
“Max Verstappen’s domination at Spa – and [Sergio] Perez’s too – with ‘la Rossa’ forced to surrender without being able to fight, despite having achieved pole position with [Carlos] Sainz, represents something unprecedented and disturbing.” – Corriere della Sera wrote – “Also for the future of a group constantly under scrutiny by the presidency, starting with [Mattia] Binotto himself. The only one to always put his face to it, however, and already committed to the 2023 project ‘in an advanced stage of definition’.”
Scuderia Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has faced criticism for his approach during the first part of the 2022 season, as the team principal insisted his men made no mistakes in terms of strategy, despite some obvious bad calls and still feels that nothing needs to change in Ferrari. Corriere della Sera have suggested Mattia Binotto‘s job with the team is not yet secured.

“The World Championship is gone, the objective now to win as many races as possible,” they said. “Will that be enough for the team principal’s continuation? It is all in the hands of [Ferrari CEO] John Elkann and managing director Benedetto Vigna, who are silent. At Maranello they are worried about the strength of Red Bull, and so are the Formula 1 promoters, who risk witnessing a dominance of the Dutchman in the coming races if his pace is what it was on Sunday [during the Belgian Grand Prix.]” – the report concluded.
