In recent days, the new team principal and general manager of Scuderia Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur, met the Italian and foreign press in what, in fact, was his first official outing with the media as number one of the Maranello team. The French manager seemed calm and determined, aware of the importance of his new role and the great opportunity he has been granted by the Ferrari senior management, but also of the expectations of the fans who hope that the 2023 Formula One campaign will be the right year to bring the world championship back to Maranello.
Fred Vasseur then released an interview broadcast on the Prancing Horse’s social networks in which he spoke of the feelings and impressions he had in these first weeks of work, which officially began on 9 January.
“Everything is going well“, assured the 54-year-old French manager, adding: “There is little time between the beginning of January and the official pre-season testing session on the track, so the program is intense. My priority is to get to know as many people as possible here at Ferrari, have a meeting with them, to get to know the individuals. I consider it a very important thing for my position; I’ve done a lot, but I’m not done yet.” – he explained.
Frederic Vasseur then assured that the atmosphere within the Ferrari Racing Division is “very positive” and that the entire team is “very concentrated and very committed”. There is clearly impatience for the presentation of the 2023 Formula 1 challenger which is scheduled for February 14th and the first testing session on the track one week later. The French manager therefore is aware that, due to the limited time available (the world championship will start on March 5th at the Bahrain International Circuit), very few missteps will be allowed: “We know perfectly well that between the presentation, the first test and the first race, the season will be very complex. We will have to be ready from day 1. But the mood is positive and there is positive energy.” – Fred Vasseur added.

The former team principal of Alfa Romeo Sauber then confirmed that he had “a long conversation” with both drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, to understand the “mood, feelings and thoughts on the last season”, considering it an advantage to be able to start from a pair of drivers consolidated by working together for two years. In the end there were no spoilers on the new Ferrari car for Fred Vasseur: “I think it will be red”, concluded the Maranello team principal by jocking with a smile on his face.
