Lewis Hamilton shared his view on the idea that Fred Vasseur might leave Ferrari, which is currently in serious difficulty.
In recent months, the seven-time World Champion has not hidden his frustration over the team’s significant shortcomings. A Ferrari in deep crisis has led to a wave of speculation, the latest of which concerns Fred Vasseur’s future. Lewis Hamilton addressed the topic, acknowledging the current weaknesses that are preventing the team from delivering the right performance, but also defended the Maranello squad’s team principal.
“Fred Vasseur being questioned by some newspapers? I hadn’t read anything, I found out about it here, and it’s not nice.” This is how Lewis Hamilton opened during media day in Canada, before recalling the key role the Frenchman played in bringing him to Ferrari. “We’re in this adventure together and I want him to stay. These are baseless rumours. Not everything is going smoothly and there’s a lot of work to do, sure, but there are no talks about his position.” – the Briton explained ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.
Fred Vasseur is the right choice for Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton has no doubts: “I think Fred Vasseur is the person who can take us to the top.” Despite the many difficulties both the team and the drivers are facing, number 44 defended the team principal from public and media criticism. “It takes time to build a winning team, I’m here to win in red and they have my full support. I’ll be here for a long time and there’s no doubt about who my boss is.” With those words, Lewis Hamilton offered reassurance to all the fans who feared he might leave due to Ferrari’s disappointing results in this first part of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
