Scuderia Ferrari head to the next round of the 2022 Formula One season, the Spanish Grand Prix, with a great desire for revenge but also cautious optimism. At the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, as announced by team principal Mattia Binotto after the Miami Grand Prix, several updates will be introduced that should bring the F1-75 cars of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz on a par with the RB18s of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, after the Milton Keynes team proved to be faster in the last two races, at the Imola circuit and in Miami.
Among the developments that will be brought to the track by the Maranello team, in addition to a high downforce rear wing, there will also be a new floor specification for the F1-75 car.
Ferrari, new floor in Spain to challenge Red Bull
The Italian side will therefore bring a new floor version for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix next weekend, which should allow the F1-75 to car to reduce the gap that was clearly visible at the Imola circuit and in the Miami Grand Prix as compared to the Red Bull R18.
As reported by Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the floor “will also be the main update for Ferrari at the Circuit de Catalunya. Combined with a package of other solutions that should improve the car’s performance, the goal is always the same: to allow the car to run as close as possible to the asphalt in order to optimize the ground effect. According to rumors, the updates could be worth 3-4 tenths per lap. This should be enough to give Charles Leclerc back the speed and pace that earned him two victories so far, in Bahrain and in Australia” – Gazzetta dello Sport reports, ahead of the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix.
