The real Ferrari “will only be seen in Hungary”. So said the Maranello team shortly before the start of the Austrian Grand Prix and this is what the fans of the Rossa are waiting for and hoping for at the third race of the season which will take place at Hungaroring about thirty kilometers from Budapest. A circuit where it is very difficult to overtake and where qualifying will be fundamental for an SF1000 that arrives with “broken bones” after the incident at the Spielberg Circuit between Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.
What’s new in Budapest
After the first updates in Austria, Budapest arrives with a second aerodynamic upgrade package which, as announced by team principal Mattia Binotto before the start of the post-Covid Formula 1 season, should showcase the true qualities of the SF1000 car. Changes are expected at the Hungaroring which have been marked by an important change of direction with regard to development, especially in terms of aerodynamics after the issues of the current project were highlighted in the winter testing sessions at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
They could be invisible updates: the hypotheses
As the hours go by we will find out more about the details, but for now the news regarding Ferrari should not go beyond the hypotheses. However, Sky Italy reports that the second upgrade might not be visible for us because it’s more inside the car and that even the new nose could debut this week. They say it’s a big step and it will show that Ferrari chose a different development direction.
What to expect from the SF1000?
The goal of the weekend is as simple as it is obvious, according to Team Principal Mattia Binotto, to “collect the maximum possible points. To do this we will have to be perfect in every area: drivers, preparation of the car, track operations, reliability”.
