Imola has shown why it is time to introduce the first developments on the Ferrari F1-75 car
Red Bull showed an impressive efficiency in the medium-fast and fast corners in terms of speed at the Imola circuit, especially between the entrance and the first half of the corner, while in the second the F1-75 performs better. The car of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, with the weight reduction, can be equipped with a better aerodynamic balance especially for the front, without paying too much in the first straights and reducing the distance from Ferrari in the slow area. The F1-75 continues to take the slow corners with more speed and using fewer meters, which could be seen quite well from the side of the track during the weekend in Imola, as confirmed in a recent report by formu1a.uno.
The Maranello technicians must improve the car in fast corners and aerodynamic efficiency in general. Not in the cornering stability which is excellent, rather in the travel speed by decreasing the drag where the corners are medium-high, high and at very high speed, but taking care not to lose downforce.
Red Bull will continue its important upgrade in Barcelona by slimming the car, with direct and indirect benefits. Ferrari will respond in Miami with the new rear wing specification, as anticipated by Formu1a.uno, and some aerodynamic refinements which should help in the medium-low downforce circuit like the US one. At the same time, Ferrari will count on it more powerful second engine for both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. In Barcelona then – as confirmed by Mattia Binotto himself – the first aerodynamic update will be introduced to limit porpoising and will also affect other macro parts such as the sidepods.

The F1-75 and the RB18 are strong, very strong cars, very similar in this beginning of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship, albeit very different both in terms of behavior on the track and as aerodynamic concepts, so much so that Melbourne and Imola have shown two sides of the same coin, two cars which work very well but in a completely different way. In Red Bull they had the courage to keep up with the F1-75, sometimes daring too much, like in Bahrain, sometimes winning their bet like in Imola. Now it will be up to Ferrari to fight back, extracting further potential from the still excellent F1-75 car.
