Lewis Hamilton hailed Ferrari’s recovery after finishing second in the Singapore Grand Prix Sprint, while Charles Leclerc highlighted the front-tyre problems he experienced on his way to third. The two radio exchanges captured contrasting reactions after the Scuderia converted a chaotic wet Sprint into a double podium.
Ferrari made the most of the opportunities presented by the event, with Lewis Hamilton taking second place and Charles Leclerc completing the podium in third. The result continued a demanding Singapore weekend in which the team had already been dealing with the particular challenges of the Sprint at Marina Bay.
Lewis Hamilton gains three places at the Singapore Sprint start
Rain forced both Ferraris to start on intermediate tyres, as did the rest of the grid. Lewis Hamilton then produced an excellent launch, gaining three positions and moving from sixth to third by the first corner.
The accident involving George Russell, who was leading the Sprint at the time, allowed both Ferrari drivers to gain another position. Max Verstappen eventually won the race with a pace that Ferrari could not match, leaving Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc to finish behind the Red Bull driver.
Lewis Hamilton’s recovery from sixth on the grid to second at the finish can also be followed through the ScuderiaFans Ferrari qualifying-to-race performance data.
Lewis Hamilton celebrates Ferrari recovery over team radio
After the chequered flag, race engineer Carlo Santi informed Lewis Hamilton of the result and the fastest lap, while also explaining what had happened between the two McLarens on the final lap.
Carlo Santi said: “Well done, Lewis! You finished P2. You set the fastest lap of the race. Double yellow flag, incident between the McLarens on the final lap.”
Lewis Hamilton asked: “At which corner?”
Carlo Santi replied: “At Turn 5.”
Lewis Hamilton responded: “Understood. Argh! Great recovery, guys, fantastic! Let’s carry this into qualifying.”
Carlo Santi concluded: “Good points for us.”
The second-place finish represented a strong recovery after Lewis Hamilton had started only sixth, and attention now turns towards the remaining sessions of the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix weekend.
Charles Leclerc identifies front-tyre problem after P3
Charles Leclerc’s post-race conversation was much shorter and focused immediately on the tyre difficulty he had faced during the closing stages.
Race engineer Bryan Bozzi told Charles Leclerc: “And that’s P3.”
Charles Leclerc replied: “The fronts were nowhere.”
Bryan Bozzi answered: “Yes, we saw that.”
Despite the tyre difficulties, Charles Leclerc completed Ferrari’s double podium in third place, giving the Scuderia two cars inside the top three after a chaotic Singapore Sprint.
