Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc topped both of Friday’s practice sessions on the streets of Monte Carlo ahead of the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, where the Maranello team and Charles are in much need of a race win after Max Verstappen scored three consecutive victories and therefore took the lead in the Drivers Standards.
The Italian side had a Friday practice in Monaco as Carlos Sainz Jr. was second-fastest behind his Maranello teammate. Red Bull was right behind the Ferrari drivers as Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen were third and fourth fastest but clearly lacked the one-lap speed of the Ferrari F1-75 cars.
FIA accredited F1 Journalist and Analyst Giuliano Duchessa confirmed after the second free practice session that the F1-75 cars were superior at medium-low speeds in all tyre conditions and temperatures.
Charles Leclerc will be extra motivated at Monaco; he has never finished an F1 race on his hometown streets. He’s so comfortable with the circuit that he cycles to the track from his apartment, and despite the fact that he took pole position in the 2021 F1 event, Charles never even started the race because of damage to his Ferrari.
