Ferrari doesn’t oppose Andretti’s entry into Formula 1; in fact, they are interested in supplying them with the Power Unit. The entry of the eleventh team into the Circus is one of the hot topics of this season, which is coming to a close.
After overcoming the hurdle of the FIA, Andretti Global awaits Liberty Media‘s verdict. Not all teams are in favor of welcoming another team for economic reasons. This is not a concern for President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, whose latest motto seems to be “more cars on the track, fewer races.”
Entering Formula 1 is not easy, and certain steps must be followed, along with the possession of substantial resources. Andretti seems to have everything in order, except for the Power Unit issue.
This is where Ferrari comes into play. Nothing will change until 2025, and the supplies will remain the same. Renault wants to focus on reducing the gap and has set its sights on the new power unit that will be introduced in 2026. Consequently, the team could be compelled to supply Andretti. The alternative would be Mercedes, but from what we know, they are not very inclined to expand the Circus.
In contrast, Ferrari has appeared quite neutral on the Andretti matter and is not opposed to offering the Power Unit. After the loss of Sauber, which is slowly transforming into Audi, Maranello may need a third team on their side, even to strengthen their political influence (which is not to be underestimated, as it has been drastically reduced in recent years).
