Carlos Sainz has been given a special helmet to wear on his Ferrari for his home race weekend, the Spanish GP. Just before the first free practice session at the Circuit de Catalunya, the special edition helmet that the Spaniard will wear at the Barcelona circuit was unveiled.
This will be Carlos Sainz’s last home race with the colors of the Maranello team. For driver number 55, nothing has been decided yet regarding his future, although he has announced that significant news will come soon.
However, it is not yet time to think about the future; the focus needs to be on the race and performing well with Ferrari, especially after the heavy double zero score at the Canadian GP. Carlos Sainz had retired after a severe collision with his SF-24 in a weekend where Ferrari struggled immensely.
“In Canada, it was tough for us, but we did the necessary analysis and learned our lesson. Unfortunately, the weekend didn’t go well. It was unusual, also due to some mistakes: we messed up both with the tires and the setup.”
“There will always be weekends in a season where you perform below expectations. Here we are on a more conventional track that we know well. We hope to get everything right here in Barcelona, and I am very confident,” added the Spaniard.
His teammate Charles Leclerc echoed his sentiments but expressed concerns about Red Bull. “I expect a stronger performance from Red Bull because here, the passage over the curbs is not as critical as in Monaco and Montreal. And because the characteristics of the track should suit their car better.” In short, the Barcelona weekend could hold many surprises.
