Romain Grosjean and Nico Rosberg found themselves sharing a long chat on the Youtube channel of the 2016 Formula 1 world champion in which obviously the main topic of discussion was what happened a year ago in Bahrain. That was the last race in the Geneva-based Circus for Romain Grosjean, now successfully involved in Indycar. The former Haas driver said that watching the winter tests on television last winter he felt neither nostalgia nor regret for not being present in Bahrain in the three days of testing held in Sakhir last March before the start of the 2021 Formula 1 season.
“I had a career even better than what I could have dreamed of, I didn’t win a race or win a title, but I still got ten podiums and lived many wonderful moments, then obviously if Mercedes, Red Bull or Ferrari call me, I would be racing again because they are competitive cars and not from the bottom of the grid”, the words of Romain Grosjean, as Nico Rosberg did not agree with him – “I don’t agree so much on including Ferrari in the trilogy of competitive cars, but let’s move on”, the words of the former Mercedes driver to whom Romain Grosjean replied: “Ferrari must always be included in the category of competitive cars. However, even if it is not, it must be considered ”. Romain Grosjean’s words of esteem for a unique icon of the Formula 1 starting grid, probably dreamed of for a long time by the French driver who in choosing to embrace the Haas project had nurtured the dream of being able to aspire to a promotion to Maranello.

Regarding the ‘peace of mind’ felt by Romain Grosjean regarding the condition of being a Formula 1 spectator and not a leading protagonist on track, Nico Rosberg instead admitted that he always feels a sense of nostalgia as a mere spectator: “I always feel a little of negativity when I look at F1 because I think I might be there, and it’s weird because I got everything I dreamed of in F1. I think it will always be like this, in front of F1 I will always feel a pinch of negativity” – he concluded.
