The Brazilian Grand Prix will end this penultimate triple-header of the 2024 Formula 1 season. After the stop in Interlagos, there will be a week’s break before finishing with the races in Qatar, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi. Ferrari is coming off two consecutive victories, in the United States Grand Prix and the Mexico City Grand Prix and now Frederic Vasseur’s declared goal is to take advantage of every opportunity that arises, trying to maximize the potential of the SF-24 single-seater.
Frederic Vasseur speaks of high morale but does not want to focus on the Constructors’ Championship standings yet. Ferrari is certainly back in the fight to try to bring a championship back to Maranello, particularly the Constructors’. Only 29 points separate the Prancing Horse from McLaren, with Red Bull having dropped to third position. The moment is certainly on the side of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, but the Brazilian Grand Prix will represent a different challenge from the last two races. “In Interlagos, we have a new Sprint weekend that requires great physical and mental effort. The weather often plays a key role in Brazil, so we’ll need maximum concentration and be ready to seize every opportunity,” declared Frederic Vasseur.
Preparing for the Brazilian weekend required considerable time, precisely because of the limited time available, with only one free practice session. “We have been working on the simulator for three weeks, since before Austin,” revealed the Team Principal of Ferrari. “In the meantime, we have analyzed all the data collected over these weekends. The goal is to give Charles and Carlos a well-balanced car with a good basic setup, allowing them to focus solely on driving.” The French manager mentioned the high morale within Ferrari at the moment, but the only aim is to maximize the result, without getting too ambitious. “Only after this last race will we see the points situation.”
