Frederic Vasseur delves into the details of the SF24 project, tasked with redeeming a disappointing 2023 season for Scuderia Ferrari.
After a very minimal presentation, the SF24 is ready to refute its critics and potentially inspire fans, with Ferrari hoping for the new red car to revitalize their ambitions after a lackluster 2023 in terms of results. Frederic Vasseur is also confident, and in an interview with Sky Sport, he delves into the details of Project 676, which gave birth to the SF24 on February 13.
Will the SF24 be competitive in Bahrain?
“You can’t have a clear picture,” begins the French manager. “Even in Bahrain, it will be difficult to have one, although it was clear last year that Red Bull was ahead of everyone else. But we know what we have done. We have gathered sensations from our car, made the first laps on the track.”
“From this perspective, we more or less know where we stand, but we don’t know the level of our opponents. This comparison is needed in Bahrain to understand the result of the work.”
Continuing with the interview, Fred Vasseur expressed no concern about the competition, aware of the growth path Ferrari has undertaken since the second part of the last season: “We have embarked on a long project, started ten months in advance, and the drivers are fully committed to this project. They have followed the development largely based on simulator sessions.”

“I don’t know if it will be enough in terms of lap time; we will see from the qualifying rankings. From Friday in Bahrain, we will already have a clearer idea, but the most important thing was to put everything in the right place. Step by step to improve, without drawing conclusions or having too many expectations. We need to try to do a better job day after day in the various phases of our work.” – the Ferrari team principal pointed out.

Finally, despite the necessary caution, the Frenchman expressed confidence in the new red car: “I have the feeling that we are progressing. I don’t know if we are doing it quickly enough because in my position, you always want to achieve more and always want to do it faster, but at least we are moving in the right direction.” – Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur concluded.
