Scuderia Ferrari wants to stay ahead of the game: the Maranello team has decided on an attack plan for the Miami GP that comes right after the positive indications recorded last Sunday at the Baku City Circuit with Charles Leclerc’s first podium behind the wheel of the SF-23 single-seater.
After a careful analysis of the data that was collected in Azerbaijan, Frederic Vasseur would have pushed the accelerator to convince the Scuderia technicians to be less cautious, compared to the approach of an event that may be less indicative in the development of a single-seater, taking for granted its adaptation to the characteristics of the track.
Regarding the aerodynamic configuration, we will see some new developments in the rear, while the rest will begin to change from Imola on the occasion of the Emilia Romagna GP. We will observe a medium-load rear wing associated once again with the single pillar, after the double support had been dusted off the previous weekend.
The package of updates also includes a modification to the diffuser, which should go in the direction of stalling under certain aerodynamic load conditions, in an attempt to get closer to Red Bull on its favorite ground, which is that of high speeds with the DRS open.

To draw useful indications, it is possible that two different single-seaters will be set up: one in standard version as we saw it in Baku and the other with the updates, in order to collect the necessary data in the first free practice session at the Miami International Autodrome in Florida, on a track that has changed the characteristics of the asphalt since the surface has been redone in many parts and may have changed the grip values, as explained by Motorsport Italy.
The first session could be dedicated to aerodynamic checks, while the second will be specifically oriented towards the setup and understanding of the tires, for which engineers will work to reduce tire wear, a major issue that has to be corrected for the SF-23: we will see if the theory of gradual reduction of the camber will be followed, in the hope of limiting harmful overheating.

There is other positive news: a new MGU-K had been fitted to Carlos Sainz’s SF-23 in Baku, fueling rumors about the limited reliability of the Ferrari power unit. The investigations carried out on the replaced element revealed that there was no breakage, but only a sensor that had failed. The motor generator, which charges kinetic energy and transmits electrical power to the 6-cylinder engine’s driveshaft, is still available for the Spanish driver.
Regarding the market, in about ten days, the mysterious man arriving from Red Bull will be officially announced, according to Motorsport Italy.
