Ferrari send special congratulations to Ollie Bearman after brilliant drive in Mexico City race. Ferrari praised Oliver Bearman after his remarkable fourth-place finish at the Mexican GP.

Oliver Beraman, Ferrari junior, 2025 F1
British Formula 1 rookie Oliver Bearman delivered a sensational performance at the Mexican Grand Prix, securing a career-best fourth-place finish and earning the coveted Driver of the Day award. His performance not only impressed the fans but also caught the attention of Scuderia Ferrari, who personally congratulated their academy driver after the race.

Starting from tenth on the grid, Bearman showed remarkable composure and racecraft throughout the chaotic opening laps. As Max Verstappen battled Lewis Hamilton and George Russell for position, the young Briton seized the opportunity to move up the order, at one stage finding himself running as high as third place. Although a second pit stop later dropped him to fourth, Bearman’s pace and consistency allowed him to fend off both Russell and Oscar Piastri in the closing stages.

This latest performance continues Ollie Bearman’s impressive upward trajectory since the summer break. His P4 result in Mexico came just five races after finishing sixth at Zandvoort and marked his third consecutive points finish. With this streak, he now sits only seven points away from breaking into the top 10 in the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship—a remarkable achievement for a rookie in his first full season with Haas F1 Team.

Ferrari and the F1 paddock react to Bearman’s breakthrough performance

Following the race, Ollie Bearman celebrated his best-ever Formula 1 finish by posting a simple yet emotional message on Instagram, expressing his excitement and pride. His performance didn’t go unnoticed, as messages of praise poured in from the Ferrari Driver Academy and several figures within the F1 community.

Ferrari’s official account publicly commended the 20-year-old for what they described as a “brilliant drive,” highlighting how well he managed the pressure of defending against faster cars while maintaining composure throughout the race. As a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and a key part of the Haas–Ferrari partnership, Ollie Bearman’s progress is being closely monitored by team principal Fred Vasseur and the Scuderia management.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Vasseur expressed genuine admiration for Bearman’s maturity and precision, noting that the young Briton had finally delivered a “complete” performance. The Ferrari boss reportedly said that Bearman’s ability to hold off two Mercedes cars for over 20 laps and to keep Oscar Piastri behind him reflected tremendous discipline and growth. He added that while Oliver Bearman had shown flashes of brilliance in the past, his weekend in Mexico was “perfect from start to finish,” marking an important milestone in his Formula 1 journey.

Bearman also received praise from his teammate Esteban Ocon, who congratulated him on what he called a “mega drive,” acknowledging the significance of the result for both the driver and the Haas team. The Frenchman’s message added to the growing recognition of Bearman’s emerging status as one of Formula 1’s most promising young drivers.

Oliver Bearman reflects on overtaking Max Verstappen during the Mexico Grand Prix

Among the highlights of Oliver Bearman’s race was his daring on-track battle with reigning world champion Max Verstappen. The Haas driver managed to pull off a clean overtaking move on the Dutchman early in the race—an achievement that the Ferrari junior later described as one of the most exhilarating moments of his career so far.

In post-race discussions with Sky Sports F1, Oliver Bearman reflected on the moment, saying that racing against Verstappen felt surreal considering he had grown up watching him dominate Formula 1. The British driver explained that going wheel-to-wheel with someone of Verstappen’s calibre required confidence and precision, as the Red Bull driver rarely gives his rivals any room to breathe. Oliver Bearman revealed that his successful move involved a clever switch-back maneuver during a drag race on the exit of Turn 6, followed by a brave late-braking dive into Turn 7 on an extremely slippery section of track.

Although Verstappen ultimately recovered and finished ahead, the young Haas driver’s ability to challenge the world champion even momentarily was seen as a powerful statement of intent. It showcased Bearman’s growing confidence and his ability to perform under intense pressure against the very best in the sport.

Bearman’s Ferrari future and long-term potential in Formula 1

Oliver Bearman’s connection to Ferrari continues to fuel speculation about his future in Formula 1. As a Ferrari academy driver currently gaining experience with Haas, he has positioned himself as a potential candidate for a full-time seat at Scuderia Ferrari in the coming years. Many within the paddock have already suggested that Bearman could become a natural successor to Lewis Hamilton once the seven-time world champion decides to retire.

While the 2027 Ferrari driver lineup is still uncertain, Oliver Bearman’s performances in 2025 are likely to play a crucial role in shaping his long-term prospects. Team principal Fred Vasseur has been open about his desire to nurture Ferrari’s next generation of talent, and the Briton’s rapid development makes him a standout contender. His ability to deliver consistent results, combined with his growing technical feedback and composure, strengthens his case for a future promotion.

Ollie Bearman has frequently expressed his admiration for Max Verstappen, whom he regards as the greatest driver in Formula 1 history, and has stated his desire to one day compete with him on equal machinery. His determination to reach that level reflects a maturity beyond his years—a quality that has impressed both Ferrari and neutral observers alike.

With each race, Oliver Bearman continues to reinforce his reputation as one of the brightest young stars in Formula 1. His performance in Mexico City not only equaled Haas F1 Team’s best-ever result but also sent a clear message to the grid: the British rookie is no longer just one for the future—he is already making his mark among the elite.
