Shanghai will host the first Sprint Weekend of the F1 season, and Ferrari is getting the SF-25 ready for the challenge. After the disappointment in Melbourne, the priority is to bounce back. While Loic Serra returns to Italy to study a rapid fix for the car, the team will attempt to unlock its potential as early as the next race. The season is still long.
The Australian Grand Prix is already in the past; it’s time to focus on the future. It was a disaster, no doubt, but there is still plenty of time to make corrections. Ferrari remains determined, relying on the potential that everyone—from Charles Leclerc to Lewis Hamilton and even Frédéric Vasseur—believes is currently “locked” in the SF-25. Getting back on track immediately is the best way to maintain focus.
The challenge in Shanghai is twofold: first, establishing a correlation between Maranello’s data—where Loic Serra is now working—and on-track results; second, ensuring immediate competitiveness due to the Sprint format. Teams will have just one free practice session before diving straight into the Sprint Shootout. The team principal’s words reflect confidence.
Fred Vasseur: Joint Effort Between Maranello and Shanghai to Revive the SF-25
Frédéric Vasseur introduced the Chinese Grand Prix by saying, “We are happy to get back on track less than a week after the Australian Grand Prix because the race in Shanghai gives us the chance to immediately turn the page.”
“The Chinese circuit has completely different characteristics from Albert Park, and this event, featuring the first Sprint weekend of the season, offers even more points up for grabs.” – the French manager added – “From a technical standpoint, it will be crucial to have thoroughly prepared for the weekend in the Maranello simulator, as we will only have one hour of free practice. Part of that time will have to be used to get familiar with the completely new asphalt in Shanghai.” – the Ferrari team principal pointed out.
“As a team, we will focus on every little detail to maximize the SF-25’s potential, providing the best possible support for Charles and Lewis, who have always enjoyed this track.”
