It is truly painful to see Charles Leclerc like this, with those eyes that are always full of hope before the race weekends, gradually losing their sparkle and dimming over time. Watching him battle fiercely with all his strength and determination, fighting tooth and nail for a result that is anything but first place, a result that inevitably leaves him unsatisfied and frustrated.
It hurts deeply to witness Charles Leclerc in this state, carrying the immense desire to prove himself and experience joy, yet held back and restrained by the challenging circumstances he finds himself in. Considering the long journey he has made to reach this point in his career, and the high expectations that have always surrounded him, seeing him like this is truly heartbreaking.
It is painful to see Charles Leclerc with a resigned mindset after discovering the gap to Lando Norris in qualifying. This mood was clearly reflected in his answer to the question, “Can you imagine Lando’s lap?” to which he replied, “With a faster car, yes.” This honesty highlights the reality that he has never truly had the fastest car on the grid—except perhaps during the first half of the 2022 season, where, however, reliability issues and strategic errors prevented him from capitalizing on that advantage.
What makes it even more painful is to consider Leclerc’s profound and unconditional love for Scuderia Ferrari, a passion that runs deep and cannot be questioned. Seeing him express frustration during team radio communications, when instructed to perform “lift and coast” — a driving technique where the driver eases off the accelerator before braking to manage the temperatures of his Ferrari SF-25 — reveals the emotional weight he carries every time he gets behind the wheel.
It is heartbreaking to see Charles Leclerc weighed down by the feeling that his dream of becoming a Formula 1 World Champion wearing the iconic red Ferrari suit might never become a reality. Adding to that emotional burden is the desire to make proud those watching over him from above: his late father Hervé Leclerc, his mentor Jules Bianchi, and his close friend Anthoine Hubert.
Yet, it is important to remember that Charles Leclerc is unaware of how proud the Ferrari fans and his loved ones are of him, as their affection and support go far beyond any results or setbacks for which he is not to blame.
It truly hurts to see Charles Leclerc like this. And how wonderful it would be to see him bring a World Championship back to Maranello once again. Perhaps one day we will find out if that dream can still come true.
