Ferrari is preparing another important round of upgrades for the SF-26, with a new front wing and revised floor expected to debut at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona as the Maranello team continues its aggressive development programme.
What Ferrari is working on in Maranello
At the Miami Grand Prix, Ferrari introduced what team principal Frederic Vasseur had previously described in Japan as “one and a half” upgrade packages. However, Ferrari was not the only front-running team pushing development in Florida, as both Red Bull and McLaren also arrived with substantial updates.
McLaren is set to bring another major package to the Canadian Grand Prix, while Mercedes will introduce its first significant upgrades for the W17 in Montreal, further intensifying the Formula 1 development battle.
The Montreal weekend will also be particularly important for Ferrari beyond pure aerodynamics, as it marks the final race before the ADUO verdict, which will determine how much scope the Italian team will have to intervene on its power unit. Ferrari’s engine package remains an area of concern, with additional horsepower potentially crucial if the Scuderia is to keep pace with Mercedes and Red Bull.
Meanwhile, work continues at full speed in Maranello to extract more performance from the SF-26.
According to reports from AutoRacer.it, Ferrari’s next major upgrade package is scheduled for Barcelona. The Scuderia is expected to bring a revised floor and, perhaps more significantly, a heavily updated front wing.
In Miami, Ferrari’s front wing changes were limited primarily to the outer sections, partly due to logistical constraints. However, the version planned for the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is expected to feature much more visible and comprehensive modifications in what remains one of the most sensitive and performance-critical areas of Formula 1 car development.
With the 2026 Formula 1 development race becoming increasingly intense, Barcelona could represent a crucial moment in Ferrari’s attempt to close the gap to its main championship rivals.
