Italian Formula 1 engineer Riccardo Adami moved to Scuderia Ferrari in 2015 to become Sebastian Vettel’s race engineer once again, after working with the German driver back in 2008 at Toro Rosso. The Ferrari Race Engineer was recently interviewed by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, as he talked about working with Sebastian Vettel. Here are some of the most important comments made by Riccardo Adami, as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
About Seb singing in Spa: “This was nothing new for us. Seb has already sung on the team radio a few times. It is part of the working style of Sebastian.”
Adami: “We feel that Sebastian really loves our country, a passion that has been there since he stood as a little boy at the fence of the Fiorano circuit, where he watched Schumacher testing.”
Adami: “Sebastian is a fabulous team person. And that comes from the inside, that is his nature and there’s nothing artificial about it. And I can judge that because I have known Sebastian for 10 years. He didn’t change. I can’t say that he had changed since his Toro Rosso days. He is still a simple and humble person.”
Adami: “When he makes a mistake, he immediately admits that. If someone from the team has made a mistake, then Seb keeps a cool head and then tries to cheer up the person. He believes in one for all and all for one.”
Adami: “He has won many races and 4 titles now, but we feel his continued tremendous passion for the sport.”
Adami: “I like his determination, his pragmatism, his ability to detect weaknesses in the car. Some would call him pedantic. Of course some discussions take a long time, but I wouldn’t call that a weakness.”
Adami: “Sebastian is one of the last to leave the track, we’re going through all the data, he talks with everyone in the team and obviously in Italian. His Italian is getting better day by day.”
