“Success at the highest level of motor racing is in our blood as we proved with our victory at the 24 Hours of Spa in the Endurance Cup of the GT World Challenge this weekend.” Ferrari President John Elkann, on the occasion of the conference call in which he analyzed the excellent results recorded by the Maranello company in the second quarter of 2021, underlined that the Prancing Horse “is more focused than ever on the importance of its sporting dimension in motorsport.”
“In Formula 1, our young and exciting pair of drivers has brought new energy to the entire team,” continued John Elkann, praising the commitment shown by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in this transition year in anticipation of the important test represented by the new rules for the 2022 Formula One season, a year in which Ferrari has long been focusing in the hope of returning to the top of the premier category of motoracing. The president did not focus only on Formula 1, highlighting how Ferrari’s action towards the future are focused on several test benches, including with covered wheels in Endurance: “We are also working intensively on our return to the Hypercar class and in particular to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023”.
Finally, John Elkann certified the fact that he had recently spent a lot of time in Maranello alongside the men involved in the sports sector: “Working even more closely in recent months with our racing teams has only refined my and our determination to achieve victory on the track and make sure we exploit even more technology transfer opportunities from our auto racing businesses to our road car programs.” – he concluded.
