After a challenging 2025 season, Ferrari is ready for a major reorganization as it looks ahead to 2026. Formula 1 teams have been working for months on the new generation of cars, with the GP of Abu Dhabi and Pirelli tests at Yas Marina officially marking the end of the ground-effect era. With the new regulations set to be introduced in 2026, teams have had to rethink and redesign their cars, adopting a completely new approach. Ferrari admitted during the final races of 2025 that it halted all development of the SF-25 in April to focus on the 2026 car.
In recent days, new details have emerged about the future Ferrari, both in terms of technical changes and internal restructuring within the team.
The new Ferrari
According to an article by F1 expert Rosario Giuliana published on The Race, the Ferrari of 2026 “will have little to nothing in common with the 2025 version.” With a fourth-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship, the Maranello team will have a 15% advantage in wind tunnel hours over McLaren.
After the departure of engineers like Wolf Zimmermann in 2025, Ferrari finds itself needing to reorganize its technical department. According to Rosario Giuliana, the team’s focus, under the leadership of Fred Vasseur, has shifted toward recruiting engineers from Renault. Fred Vasseur reportedly organized a meeting to restructure the staff. After years in Formula 1, Renault has decided to leave the sport and will no longer supply engines to Alpine, which will switch to Mercedes power units starting next year.
With the car launch expected in mid-January and private testing to follow shortly after, the coming weeks will offer the first glimpses of whether these behind-the-scenes moves translate into on-track pace when the new era begins in 2026.
