Scuderia Ferrari has officially announced that it has renewed the contract of its current Team Principal, Frédéric Vasseur. The new agreement is described as a multi-year deal, allowing the French team boss to continue leading the iconic Maranello-based outfit into the forthcoming technical revolution that will reshape Formula 1 from the 2026 season onwards.
The long-term partnership between Frédéric Vasseur and Scuderia Ferrari will therefore continue. The Italian team released the confirmation earlier this morning, putting an end to weeks of speculation and reaffirming Vasseur’s role as the leader of the Ferrari Formula 1 project for the years to come.
As previously anticipated by Motorsport.com, all the necessary formalities have been completed, with both parties signing the new contract that solidifies their collaboration. Although the team did not disclose the precise number of years involved, it confirmed that the new agreement is structured to cover multiple Formula 1 seasons.
This development ensures that Frédéric Vasseur will remain at the helm of the Scuderia during the sport’s next major regulatory transition, scheduled to come into effect on January 1st, 2026. However, there is growing discussion in recent weeks about possible amendments to that deadline, driven by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s proposals to introduce alternative innovations into the championship’s technical framework. Despite these uncertainties, Ferrari has chosen to maintain strategic continuity by retaining its current leadership.
The official press release issued by Ferrari reads as follows:
“Scuderia Ferrari HP is pleased to announce the extension of its collaboration with Frédéric Vasseur through a new multi-year contract. Vasseur will continue to serve as Team Principal for the coming Formula 1 seasons.”
The statement goes on to underline Vasseur’s credentials and contribution since joining the team:
“Fred became part of the Scuderia at the start of the 2023 season, bringing with him extensive experience in the world of motorsport and a proven track record of nurturing talent and assembling competitive teams at all levels of racing. Since his arrival, he has laid a solid foundation with the clear ambition of returning Ferrari to the top of Formula 1.”
Ferrari further added that this contract renewal reflects the company’s unwavering determination to build upon the progress made under Vasseur’s leadership:
“Fred’s ability to lead under pressure, his openness to innovation, and his relentless pursuit of performance align fully with Ferrari’s core values and long-term objectives. Under his guidance, Scuderia Ferrari HP is united, focused, and deeply committed to continuous improvement.”
The team emphasized that their confidence in Frédéric Vasseur stems from a shared strategic direction and a collective ambition to achieve the high standards expected by Ferrari’s global fanbase, its drivers, and every member of the organization:
“This renewal strengthens our shared resolve to deliver the results that the fans, the drivers, and the entire Ferrari team expect and truly deserve.”
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna had previously hinted at ongoing negotiations between the parties. Following the official announcement, Vigna provided his perspective on the importance of the renewed agreement with Vasseur:
“Today, we recognize the progress that has already been made and commit ourselves to what still lies ahead. This decision reflects our firm belief in Fred’s leadership—confidence that is rooted in shared ambitions, mutual expectations, and clearly defined responsibilities. We move forward with focus and determination, united in the pursuit of the performance level that Ferrari must always strive for.”
Frédéric Vasseur, in his first public remarks following the confirmation of his new deal with Ferrari, expressed gratitude for the continued trust placed in him by the team and the company’s senior management:
“I am grateful to Ferrari for the confidence they continue to place in me. This renewal is not only a confirmation of our collaboration but also a challenge to keep pushing forward, to remain focused, and to give our absolute best. Over the past 30 months, we have laid strong foundations. Now we must keep building with consistency and determination. We fully understand what is expected from us, and we are all giving everything we have to meet those expectations and take the next collective step forward.”
Frédéric Vasseur’s extended tenure means that Ferrari has opted for stability as it prepares for the significant regulatory overhaul that will reshape the technical landscape of Formula 1 from 2026 onwards. His continued leadership reinforces Ferrari’s ambition to return to championship contention and to deliver the performance that fans around the world have long been waiting for.
